How to paste text in a existing line?

Normally you can tap and hold to paste a text. But how to do this in a existing line without the tap and hold will select the nearest word, which will be replaced with the paste.

you are doing it wrong.

tap/hold at a space between words, then click the "insert mark" and select PASTE. NOTHING will get deleted.
