I've never used speed dial on my android, so I decided to set it up & captured the screen showing those few numbers/names. Of course, that was saved in Gallery. I'd like to put an icon/link (whatever it's called) on my home screen to that Gallery image, so that I can know who's who when I want to call.

That's my only idea for keeping track of those numbers. I know there are 100 speed dial numbers available. Does anyone actually use that many? If so, how do they keep track of them.

Welcome to Android Central. I'm not seeing a way to shortcut a picture to a homescreen on my S8+. You could setup a contact and use that pic for the contact pic, then place the contact on your homescreen.

If you use Google contacts (and REALLY you should be)… why do you need a speed dial? Just open your phone and start typing the person's name or phone number and it will start presenting you with options to call, text or email that person.

You can also long press on your home screen and tap "widget" - add the contact you want. Do this as often as you like. Just be sure to put them all in a folder on your home screen so you don't clutter it up. 😎

Well, it was just a thought. I've been doing fine going to contacts & typing 1st part the name, but thought I'd try speed dial to see if I liked it. I guess I made a problem out of a non-problem. My bad idea has been shot down. Thanks for your comments.

I didn't think it was a bad idea, something to play around with. But, from a practical standpoint, I think 8 or 9 speed dials are rememerable and useful if you use them. And some people are just partypoops :)

Welcome to the forums! As @PJRed2008 said, not a bad idea at all. You can use a file explorer to create a shortcut for any pic in your phone. I use Solid, but Total Commander or FX are quite popular as well. Once you open the file explorer search for 'screenshot' and this will return a list of files with the image. Long press to select, tap on the three dots/more icon and there should be an option to create the shortcut on your home screen.

Another option could be creating a folder in your home screen where you can include as many contacts as you wish, with a shortcut for the contact entry or an speed dial icon.

Not a bad idea at all, please don't think that was my point. I've just seen so many people put a shortcut to everybody in their address book on their home screen. As I (and JavierP) also mentioned, drop a shortcut to your most used contacts (the ones you want the speed dial for) on your desktop in their own folder. You'll need to create two on your home screen first, then drag one on top of the other and it will make a folder. Then just repeat. It will be two steps and quick.

I don't think others understand what you are asking. The solution is simple:

If you have a Samsung device, go to Files and find the picture. Then long press to select it. Then click "More" on the bottom. Then click "Add to home screen." You can also rename it before you add it to the home screen.
