how to recover contacts via kies 3 backup

i have a kies 3 backup, but a new laptop, but the old laptop files. i lost all my contacts, but had them backed up on old laptop. also, i had to return phone and get new one. i forgoty the name of the backup file under kies 3. can anyone tell me wht it is? thanks

Unless you made a copy of it and stored it elsewhere, you will find it hidden away on the Old Laptop at:


C://Users/....yourNameHere..../MyDocuments/Samsung/Kies3/backup/SM-G900V/SM-G900V_1234567890

where 1234567890 is your phone number.

The penchant for Microsoft storing documents under "My Documents" is my Favorite Hate Subject...

I always create a folder called C:\DATA and then I force all of my applications to use that as the Default Save Folder

The reason for that is, when you do upgrades in Windows, they delete the My Documents folder which is the stupidist, most inane, thing that I can think of. That is where 99.9999% of the public has ALL of their data stored, and then Microsoft just blithely throws it all away in one fell swoop.

I go into Options and make everything change the SAVE location to C:/DATA/FolderOf Choice
