how to remove Google account from HTC Tasks?

I don't want to use the built-in HTC Tasks app. But it automatically synced up my Google account's Tasks. I've gone to the Sync Settings and unchecked Google Sync Tasks, but the tasks are still there in the HTC Tasks.

I'm afraid that if I delete the tasks from HTC Tasks, then somehow accidentally sync with Google Tasks in the future, it will delete all my Google Tasks. I wish there was a way to just remove the Google account from HTC Tasks. Anyone got any ideas?

I think you could disable Tasks in the apps. Could you tell me how you synced your Google Tasks to HTC Tasks? I want to know because I like that HTC Task's icon shows the notification number on my lock screen.
