I can't figure out how to remove the Google search bar after the Pie update. It was very simple on Oreo.

Edit: Apparently, this is not possible with Pie, unless you use a 3rd party launcher.

Yes, I've tried both Action and Nova but in the end I have settled for Nova Prime. It works extremely well. Also, with the Christmas offer of £0.59 for Prime, no contest.

You are correct. Only via 3rd party launcher. I am a nova guy, but action launcher runs very smooth on this device.
If one has Pie on a phone without a notch it only allows 4 icons in the notification bar just in case you have a notch. Can a different launcher allow a full across the top notification bar with more icon space?

I can't find any settings in Nova to make changes to the notification bar.

That's not possible, custom launchers can't control the status bar and the only setting available in Nova is to hide it on the home screens, no more than that.

Before Pie some models let you enable the System UI Tuner and change what's displayed on the status bar, unfortunately this option is not available anymore. There's a couple of tricks using Nova Activities but the results are not very good so I wouldn't recommend it to you.

Thanks for the explanation. Maybe Google will fix the issue in an update.

Note 9 and S9 owners may be unhappy with this pie change.
