How do I remove the Google search bar at the top of the home page? I want to replace it with the Duck Duck Go Search Bar. Long press does nothing.

Android 8.0

EDITED: I am editing this post because I cannot find a way to reply within the thread. I can see B. Diddy's reply but there is no reply button for me. Only "EDIT QUESTION". I have looked over the page 10 times and refreshed it twice.

Thanks B. Diddy. Great Idea! I installed Nova Launcher and I spent most of the afternoon learning the settings and configuration options. I love it.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? You generally can't remove the Google search bar widget on most stock launchers, but if you can if you install a 3rd party launcher like Nova.

Well that's strange... After editing the original post, I now have a reply box. I've never seen this in a forum before.

It's not an actual bug -- it's the Ask A Question format. I'm really not sure why it comes up sometimes, but you're correct -- the way to get rid of that format is to delete that string of characters after "html".

I always found that search bar annoying. In 6.0 I just dragged it up and was able to remove it from my home screen.

Curious is this a "thing" with Oreo in general?... or just the OPs setup?

I think it's Oreo. I'm on a Xiaomi Mi A1 with stock Android.
