Is there a quick and easy way to do this as some of the files get to be pretty large and I'd prefer not to take the photo at a lower resolution? Coming from iPhone I remember it asking me what size I'd like to send it. I am using textra as my texting app.

What app are you using to send. On my note 2 it compresses itself with the stock app and if I use hancent it asks to resize and does it itself.

The stock app compressed photos but Textra does not(that I know of) . Maybe it's just the texting app. The Gmail app is the same way it doesn't ask what size while the stock email app does ask when attaching an image.

GMail can handle attachments up to 25MB (I think), so there's really no reason to downsize photos for sending...at least in most cases.

Gmail doesn't care about the file size but my ATT data plan does. I like Image Shrink. The free version is fine for one photo at a time. The paid version lets you do multiple photos at once.
