How to root Optimus S running ZVC software

OK. First of all I apologize if this has been covered, but all I am finding is information about ZVD software and the fact that if you are on ZVD you have to go back to ZV9(?) before rooting. I am still running ZVC software (still have the working hotspot widget) because I denied the OTA update they tried to push a little while ago. This is my first Android phone (which I have only had for a few weeks now) so I am not exactly an expert. I do know my way around computers, but again I am no expert. What all do I need to do to get CM7 running on my phone?!

Any help or even links would be greatly appreciated! You guys are awesome and have definitely made my transition into a smartphone a pleasurable experience.

The new rooting guide in the stickies uses gingerbreak which works on the OTA updates, so you can safely do the ZVD OTA update and still be able to root your phone.

Is this the sticky you are talking about? I see that it says for ZVD but you say it will work just fine on the ZVC software?

Yeah it will work for ZVC but you should update to ZVD if you want to use the updated ROMs.

Did anything work for you? I have ZVC too - and I've tried everything including what's been posted on this thread already... Maybe I'm an idiot - I'm not too technical - but I've rooted several Hero's and EVO's instantly in the past - but I've spent hours and days trying to root this phone but to no avail...

Hello, I too have a SW version of zvc with ThundeRom 1.7. However, I cannot do an OTA update to ZVD. My phone restarts and hangs on LG splash until I pull the battery. Nor can I do an update via LG Software updater. It states that I have the latest Software. As of late my phone has slowed down considerably and crashes with a weird pixelated screen every time I remove and reinsert the sd card. Every few days my phone fails to recognize my sd card. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

1) Try a different SD card.

or

2) Start over.

Make sure you are running Xionia custom recovery (important or ##786# will brick)

Flash one of the stock rom nandroid backups or KP500 to force flash the rom version you want

Do a ##786# reset (you'll lose all your apps)
