How to save calendar events and transfer them?

I had a bunch of calendar events saved in the included HTC calendar app. I loaded a new rom and of course none of the events transferred over. I still have a backup of the old ROM with the events. I want to go back and somehow save them to a file so I can import them into my calendar in the new ROM.

Ideas? I've disabled the calendar sync through my gmail since day one. Do I simply need to re enable it in my old rom and let the events sync?
