How to save things on a sd card and not the phone

I asked this question once before on here but i have no idea how to respond due to there not being a reply box thingy... ANY way i have a Android ZTE smart phone and i can not seem to be able to save anything onto my SD card but it only saves on my phone its self. My phone does say it is recognizing that there is a SD card and no it is not counterfeit i bought it at Walmart. I am also using it original 4 GB SD card that came with the phone I have bought a 16 GB SD card thinking that there was a problem with my 4 GB SD card well I was wrong. I read online that the phone is supposed to sense that there is an SD card in it and start saving stuff to it however this is not the case. My phone does not have any option to move stuff to my SD card. If someone could please help me that would be great.

Hi,
First your should check your SD card with your computer. Maybe it is not formatted.
Do you have a fat32 partition in your SD card? You can create one with you computer.

I do not know what a fat32 partition is nor do i know how to make one. Could you tell me and/or give me a link to do so?

I'm having the same issue. I just got the phone on the 27th and the sd card today. I'm not getting an option to move apps or mark the sd card as the storage for photos.
