How to search for pictures on Android phone?

So if I have a lot of pictures saved on my phone or SD card how can I search for a specific one? I tried using the magnifying glass button but it doesn't work in the gallery.

QuickPic will do a sort, but only by A-Z.

SuperManager, will do a search by filename. Note, SM might need root.

Most file managers can search by filename.

Thanks guys. I use Astro File Manager to search now but it's awfully slow. The apps I have come across you need root access, which I don't have.
