Hello,

So I hated lollipop and followed the procedure and unlocked the bootloader of my moto g (1st gen) and successfully installed kitkat 4.4.4. I made sure my apps don't automatically upgrade but yet, within a few hours, i got a message saying that the Android 5.0.1 system update has been downloaded and the message keeps flashing on my notifications bar even after i dismiss it... how do i avoid and delete this download and how do i make sure lollipop doesn't get downloaded automatically again? please help!

Root the phone and the update will fail even if it starts installing. (It won't hurt anything - once it sees a rooted phone it stops and claims that it "failed".) If that's annoying, you can freeze the updater app. Use Link2SD if you don't have Titanium.

Thanks for your reply.
So i rooted my phone and then I downloaded the DisableService app and disabled the notification. no problem.
However, now i have a new problem... while rooting, a bunch of multi-coloured vertical lines came along the screen, i rebooted my phone several times, they haven't disappeared! My phone is switched on and is rooted and is working fine... but now the display has become like this... the vertical lines are visible through my wallpaper!!! HELP! is my display somehow screwed?
i am not eligible to post links in my posts yet, but the website where i took this procedure from... there were many comments from people who had faced similar vertical lines... but it seems to have sorted for them. What is happening?

Rukbat, that's GREAT news to me. I've been so worried that I would be upgraded without permission from me.

I'm rooted, but I think I'll do that too. Then I'll unfreeze the "notification push" app, and then they can just tell me all about their new, wonderful OS upgrade.

Thanks SOO much!
