How to stop photos transferring from my Nexus 6 to my Nexus 5

I gave my Nexus 5 to my wife when I got my new Nexus 6 (separate phone numbers but same google account) and thought it was neat when my contacts automatically transferred from my old Nexus 5 to my new Nexus 6.
However, the problem is that any Photos I take on my new Nexus 6 also appear on my wife's Nexus 5 ( but not the reverse).
I have looked for some setting that could be causing this but without success.
I know there must be something I'm missing but I'm going around in circles, can someone on this Forum help me out .... Thanks

In the settings for the Photos app , check the auto-backup. If it is enabled on your N6, it will auto-backup your photos to the cloud, and since the N5 is using the same google account, those photos will show up there.

I'd consider for ease, to create a Google account for your wife

Agree with both responses above. In general, it's not a great idea to share a Google account with anyone. There's too much potential for important data to be inadvertently changed or deleted by the other person. And even though you think you may have nothing to hide from each other, consider situations where you may want to keep something secret from your spouse, like a surprise party!

Thanks...I discovered that the Nexus 5 was "signed in" and reflected the settings you mentioned but the Nexus 6 was not "signed in " and did not reflect the settings. I now have both phones set to "not backup and sync" which should keep the photo's from uploading to my Google account and appearing on each others phones. I download photo's to my PC and don't wish to use the space Google provides...
