Plugged the V20 into the USB port on my PC (Windows 10) and the phone shows up in File Explorer but no files show there. My old LG G2 just had to be plugged in and the PC treated it like a thumb drive. All I had to do to transfer pictures and videos was to drag and drop. I'm looking for a solution that allows me to do the transfers without requiring internet access.

You can also just download, and setup Google drive as part of your hard drive (c drive) and the files will seamlessly transfer over that way as well. I hope that helps you out a little bit.

I edited the post so your answer may not apply. Doesn't Google Drive require access to the internet to be used for this?

I have a thumb drive with a USB a connector on one end and a USB c connector on the other. I download photos to the thumb drive as needed and then when I'm home I put them on my PC and edit them with Lightroom.

For security purposes, after you connect your phone you would normally need to unlock the security screen then accept the MTP connection from the computer.

After that, you should see everything via Windows Explorer.

Welcome to Android Central! ManiacJoe is correct -- also, when you unlock the phone's screen, swipe down the notification panel, tap the USB notification, and make sure it's set to MTP. Starting with Marshmallow on most phones, the default USB connection mode became Charge Only, and you have to change it manually to MTP.

Yes, in that case then google drive wouldn't work unfortunately. Just enable USB debugging a plug you're LG v 20 into you're computer , and your computer should recognize you're phone as us USB device.
