How to turn off display without screen lock?

I have screen lock enabled on my SGS4 and it's set up to lock 15 sec after the screen "automatically turns off". My current use case is:
- tap the power switch or home key to turn display on
- type passcode
- use phone
- tap the power switch to turn the display off.
- If I've remembered to do something else within the 15 sec, then I don't need to retype the passcode.

When at home or another safe environment, I'd like to turn off the display without enabling the screen lock. Is there a way to set this up without having to drill down into the display lock settings every time?

The feature for 'trusted locations' is coming in Lollipop, but to be able to use it in KitKat (the current OS in your phone, I'm guessing), you'd need to use a 3rd party app.

The quickest way is to replace your current lockscreen with a 3rd party one that supports trusted locations, like this one:
Get Android Lollipop's New "Smart Lock" Feature on KitKat « Nexus 5

If you still want to use your current lockscreen, you could use Tasker to automate the switching off and switching on of the lockscreen, but that is a little bit more complicated since you have to set up the app and define the macros.
