I had considered a factory reset briefly but don't want the hassle at this time.

As an aside, I only noticed the activity change of OK Google after the latest Android security update from T-Mobile as I don't recall it being active previously. Not using Bixby either and reprogrammed the Bixby button to open Gmail...
Let's see what happens with next update, if at that point have to factory reset , then so be it.

I have the Google widget on my home screen and it doesn't respond to my OK google voice command anymore. Which is what I wanted. Prior to that I had to remove the widget to achieve this.

That's interesting had to move the Google widget prior to make work, how about in like a web search or keyboard voice commands for text ?

I'm not sure what that means to be honest, I use Samsung web browser 99% of the time.
For keyboard voice to text, my keyboard is Samsung and voice is Google for talk to text. Screenshot_20190708-220452_Settings.jpg

But yes , your ok Google disabled? Does the voice search in web browser and other places still work?

I removed the widget from my home screen in the past to disable ok google voice recognition as well as "paused" voice per my previous screen shot. That did the trick.

However after looking into it further it is possible to have the Google widget and have google voice disabled. So in essence I have the Google widget on home screen and speaking the words Ok Google doesnt do a thing anymore. So all good.
