Well I went and had a nice couple hour trip unlocking my bootloader and installing root and cwm here are some links to help you guys out.
I have the OTA of 2.3.4 that was released July 22ndSo please keep in mind I have only tested this on an ATRIX at&t on the OTA 2.3.4 and my bootloader was locked.My phone was rooted prior to this but if you loose root you can use the links for rooting.
So here is what I did to unlock my BL root and CWM.
Follow this link and even if you're on Gingerbread you should follow these steps fromstep 1
*Don't forget to download the sbf.unlock file which you will use with RSd to flash.

If you get this ******ed error screen on your phone before step 13 then read this and you will be good
Help!! 0x1000 error but retained RSD protocol support - Page 2 - xda-developers
that should be able to take care of your Bootloader and any weird error screens you might get.Now that your BL is unlocked you can go ahead with root.
