I rooted with Towel Root and uninstalled all of the bloat a few days ago. What steps would I need to take before downloading the update? I'm also wondering if it's even worth updating since my phone is running great on 4.3?

It'll run better on 4.4. Mine sure does.
You'll have to unroot first. Check your root program for.

I unrooted using SuperSU, but the update still fails when installing. After doing some more reading, it seems that I may have to reflash the 4.3 stock rom before it will work.

I am stock and unrooted using supersu. But, still cannot update. When I boot it shows Samsung with an unlocked lock. Then the Verizon yellow 🔺. I cannot use my USB port since it is and has been dead for a while. (I charge wirelessly). Anyway to fix this without USB?

Run Supersu and unroot. Pretty simple if you bother to look.

Sorry, I think you're SOL. The most straightforward way would be to use Odin to load http://samsung-updates.com/details/27400/Galaxy_S_3_Verizon/SCH-I535/VZW/I535VRUCNC1.html and then accept the OTA. No USB port = no Odin, so I'm not sure what your options are.

Perhaps Mobile Odin Pro: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro&token=0y4vYTRX would allow you to load the firmware I listed...
