This did not work for me at all. It still says contact AT&T.

I contacted AT&T and they said they don't know of any setting that should restrict that. They suggested I call HTC to see if there is a software thing they can do to change it. Or contact T-Mobile to see if they have a setting I need to change for it.

I called HTC and they said that hotspot service is locked to the carrier separate from the phone service lock. (I already have the phone unlocked with info from AT&T a long time ago.) Based on that, I don't think T-Mobile can help me. I will try to get an AT&T SIM card and "activate" hotspot that way then see if it will stay on when I switch back to my T-Mobile SIM.

Otherwise, do you know of any other way to make this work because your method of leaving the back off did not work for me.
