How to use Google Contacts in email on Android Galaxy S6?

I have contacts for Google and Live (MS Exchange) and on phone. I have all set up to sync and set Google Contacts as the default. When I open Contacts I get the Google contacts, but when I am in an email and select the contacts icon it brings up a different contacts list. How do I get the email (AOL & Live through stock ap) to access the Google contacts only?
