Hopefully this will help some that are lost on how to properly setup Fring and Skype to Video Chat.
** Mods Please Sticky**

1. Go to the Android Market and Download " Fring " Its free.

2. Go to Make the most of Skype - free internet calls and great value calls and in the upper right hand corner click " Join "
sign up for a free account, to video chat it does not require any special phone number or settings or minutes that you would have to pay for. Do this from a regular computer as this crashed on my EVO.

3. Setup Fring.
Make a User ID and Password and click "next"

then it will register you and log you in, this will take a moment.
After registration is successful you will be brought to this screen.
(add friends screen)

Select "SKP" Skype, you will be brought to this screen :

SKYPE SCREEN

From here enter your Skype Screen name and password.

Select "Login" It should import any Skype contacts you have. From what I seen you HAVE to add your Skype contacts from a Skype program on a computer or maybe their mobile app ? (havent tried it but let me know if it works for you) to work properly. Fring contacts can be added easily as seen below.

If you did it right, it will show a check mark next to "SKP" For Skype. Like in the picture :

You are now brought to your contact list, it does show your phone book contacts, but you can choose not to show these if you wish in the phone book settings in fring.

Go ahead and do a "Fring test call"

Once you click on your "Fring test call" contact, you will be brought to this screen. Lets go ahead and test it out, click on the blue videocamera button.

This is the screen you should see next, here i am recording a few seconds of video it will play back to me to test Fring.

Once that is complete you are ready to add a buddy or you can add them into your skype account from another program and select them from your list. To add a contact hit the menu button.

For example here I added someone "ratboy4" that uses Fring too.

Add Friends Screen:

Now that Ive added ratboy4 to my contacts, lets see if we can get him on videochat with me.

As you can see he is now in my contacts screen, so I tap on his name then hit the Blue videocamera button.

So I tried back a little later and got him on the line.

If you need someone to help test fring out with, check my thread in my signature.

Any questions please ask, and as always if the post helped you THANK ME !

Thanks for the tutorial but is there any way to get rid of the feedback without using a headset? Seems like a huge bug if not.

Good job, how bout a tutorial for Evo to Pc video chat.

That should be easy to figure out, add your contacts for skype on a actual computer running a skype program and they should transfer in to your Fring app on next signin on fring. This is just guessing though as I havent actually used fring to skype from computer to phone.

But, maybe in the next couple days I'll make a how to if there is enough interest.

No idea, but I video chatted with ratboy4 from his iphone and his EVO and I hate to say it but there was NO feedback on the iphone call. Maybe a connection issue ?

I grabbed Skype contacts from Fring, and my friend who's on a PC with Skype called me and we had video-to-video chat just 5 minutes ago!

It was totally Star Trek and the very coolest thing EVAH! My co-workers were all like 'ooooh, I want one!' and my boss was like 'that's cool, now stop playing with your admittedly awesome toy and get back to work.'

Lame. But totally worth it. :p He's a geek, too, so it's cool.

I've been meaning to try this out, but everyone I skype with has been numb on the idea.

Fring to fring quality is decent on my end, fring to computer with web camera via skype is amazing quality!

I didn't have the chance to use fring phone to phone, but I use with my brother
in Brazil through skype, the quality is great, and I'm using only 3G,
can't wait for 4G.

Boy he explained it perfect when I first bought my phone last week I spend hrs til I got it but for those who haven't done it, fring is the s h I t bcause u can also chat wit EVO to PC

Skype to Fring is good quality, sound is spot on.

Video can be a lil laggy.

Just gotta make sure you use the skype application to add and accept buddy requests for them to show on your Fring Skype list.

We hear lots of noise/echo going on. The mic pics up anything coming from the Evo's very speaker and cycling it non-stop. Any word on this.
