How well does it work as a phone?

Silly question I know, but....

With all the smart functions being discussed, I was wondering how the Atrix works as an actual phone, especially in fringe areas?

Not sure how to quantify phone quality except comparing to other phones. For example, is it as good as the old Razrs (not sure anything is)? Better or worse than an Iphone 4, etc.? Motorola should know how to do it right, but it doesn't always work out that way.

My mother lives out in the sticks in mid Missouri. When I visit, I can usually make calls with my old Razr V3xx, my brother has never been able to make a call from her house with any version of the Iphone (he has had them all).

Wondering how the Atrix would stack up? Number of bars isn't an indicator, but actually making a call it what counts.

Call quality sounds perfect. I haven't even dropped a call yet (well see how long that lasts). But it works fine as a phone and paired well with my Jabra and my BackBeats for music. And they sound good without cutting out.

Same here, it made me **** my pants after coming from a 3gs. The sound and call quality from the earpiece, rear speaker, and connected headphones (my Triton AX720's) are all top notch!
