Howdy,I’m Woodrow W. Woodchuck. Might not be one of the younger folks here but I’m still on the sunny side of 60. Mighty new to the new phones, not that long ago mine still had a cord. Went “cordless” a few years ago, it went up to 600 feet from the house! Being a bit set in my ways I still stood there and talked on it. Been down in North Carolina for quite a while, love it there. Raleigh area, just north of it away from the hustle and bustle.

Always had a black lab, my gals. Go everywhere I do, wouldn’t have it any other way. I hunt, fish, vegetable garden, put up stuff for the winter and do about all the hick things you can think of. I like living in the sticks, folks leave me alone and I like it that way. Spent my working years logging, driving all the fun toys, carpenter, craftsman, stone mason, mason…. About what you would expect. I’m not computer illiterate by a long shot. Went to school back in the 1990’s and took a lot of programming, math and got an accounting degree. Did contract work mostly. Lots of spreadsheets, databases and such. Admin’d a few systems, mostly finance. Did some cube farm time. It was fun but not really me.

Had an accident that put me in the hospital for quite a while. Then months and months of rehab to get me out of a wheelchair and walking some. Started driving again in early August. The legs and neuropathy make using the clutch a bit of a challenge. Thought I best get something to let me contact the outside world anyplace I would go. Decided to leave the stone age and recently bought a Driod MAX II. Bought an Otter case for it at the same time. Yeah, it is a bit cumbersome but was worth it to me. It has been dropped a few times and is still running.

I’m staying with my sister until I can get up and around better. She has a Droid so thought I best get what she has so she could help if I have any troubles. Hers is a lot slimmer and fancier but mine is waterproof and with the case, droppable a bit. Had it about 3 months now and getting to be able to do a lot with it. Still learning though, something new learned every day! Since it is my first fancy phone, I have nothing to compare it to. Only issue so far is if it is the sun, it gets hot and starts to lag, a LOT. We both think it due to the Otter case, holds in the heat. If I can keep it in the shade, and cool, it is fine. Hard to find a place for navigation in the car. The dash gets a lot of sun. I built a little shade for it out of white cardboard and so far, it has cured the problem with getting too hot.

I can be ornery and stubborn but smart enough to know there is a lot I don’t know. I’m pretty friendly and willing to share anything I think anyone would be interested in. I can be long winded at times, I apologize n advance for it. A wise fella once told me: Advice, its cheap and always worth listening to. You don’t have to take it, but you just might learn something.

Just thought I’d make an official howdy to y’all and let you know just who yer talking to.

Hi Woodrow and welcome to Android Central.

I'm glad you like your Droid Maxx II.

I hope you'll be feeling better soon.

Hey young fella, welcome to the forums mate! Like you, I spent many years in the (Australian) outback, away from the crowds doing what you guys call trail drives (droving). I'm on the wrong side of sixty also, and had to recover from a big accident... Doing fine now as you can see on my pic... Best of luck with your recovery mate! Cheers!

Best of luck on recovering, don't hesitate to ask questions about Android and your phone.
We, and many community members will help.

I also live in Raleigh, glad to know there are more people from here in the forums!

(Strokes chin) I'm not sure I could manage to live like that where I am - the Home Counties of S.E. England - but it sounds like you've got a nice place there. Welcome aboard and enjoy!☺
