ok so yesterday i got 5 hours, 9 minutes, and 12 seconds of use on a full battery on what i think was very normal use. i don't think this is acceptable. IMO a minimum of 8 hours would be acceptable.
Screen - 60%
Voice Calls - 15%
Cell Standby - 5%
Android Core Apps - 4%
Phone Idle - 3%
Maps - 3%
Android OS - 3%
Lookout - 3%
Android System - 3%
Messaging - 2%
my usage was -
1. 3 phone calls at about 5 minutes or less each.
2. LOTS of texting. i probably sent or received ~100 texts.
3. 1 Camera photo taken at full resolution - then sent it via MMS.
4. ~15 minutes total of looking up some stuff on the Chrome browser.
5. Looked up my location on Maps 3 times.
i only have 1 Gmail account and NO Twitter, Facebook, etc. type apps. Screen Display Brightness is always set to lowest setting - slid under empty check box. NO Live Wallpaper, No Live Widgets other than Fancy Widgets Big Clock. i live and was in a major metro top 10 city. no Rogue Apps or wildly updating background Apps installed. very minimal Apps installed.
so does this match up with everyone else's experience?
THEORY - i'm thinking the problem is the CDMA/LTE setting. unfortunately i did not really test this phone pre-update. but the new update turns on CDMA/LTE by default. this morning i changed that to CDMA only. (i am not in an LTE market). i knew from my old EVO 4G that turning on 4G would killed the battery rapidly. it only makes sense that turning on LTE (especially in a non-LTE market) would have a negative impact too. we'll see if this helps.
also - i had GPS AND WIFI turned ON. i turned these OFF this morning as well via widget. i'm hoping this helps too.
can someone help me interpret this data? what do you think of the LTE setting theory? what else can i do (other than a Juice Defender-type app which i really don't want to do)? am i doing something wrong?
are my expectations too high??? i've had the phone for ~4 months and love it otherwise.
