The good news is that with a Nexus device, updating a rooted device isn't nearly as much a hassle as it is with many other Android devices. It would help to know a bit more info about your tablet, however...

1. Do you know if you have a custom recovery installed? (i.e. CWM or TWRP)?

2. Besides rooting, have you made any configuration changes to the tablet? (installed ROMs, flashed any mods, etc)?

If the answer to both of those questions is "no", then you should be able to update your tablet using the normal OTA method...you would just have to re-root the device afterwards if you wanted to.

Otherwise, depending on what changes you have made, you'll probably want to either sideload the update(s) or flash a factory image or just install a ROM with the 4.4 update already applied... let us know your situation and I'm sure we'll be able to help.
