I keep getting a notificaction that I have two unread messages and yet there are no messages...how do I get rid of this??

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings/Apps/All, select the messaging app (not sure if it's called "Text" or "Messaging" or something like that), and Clear Cache. See if that helps.

If you are using a third party app, something you got from the play store or elsewhere, and clearing the cache doesn't work save all of your messages and uninstall and reinstall the app. There are several backup apps out there, Backup Pro used to be popular and they offer a trial period so you won't have to buy the app if you're not inclined to, or you could try Astro file manager. They have been branching out and actually offer a pretty nice backup. Meanwhile if you're using the stock app and clearing the cache does not work, clear the data for the app and the cache, and then disable it, restart your phone then enable the app. If for some reason that does not work, and you are using the stock app your alternative may be to factory reset the device, however I have every confidence that one of the three proposals will rectify your condition without going that far.

1. Clear the cache of the app causing the notification.

2. If not using stock backup, uninstall, then install, and restore.

3. If Stock - backup, clear data, clear cache, disable, restart, enable, and restore.

4. When all else has failed, factory reset, then find a new messaging app.
