HTC 10 Alarm sound issues

Just curious if anyone else has had this problem with their alarms.

I just got my HTC 10 this week, and I made sure the volume for my alarm is all the way up. When I go to add an alarm and choose to add it via music, it pulls up the music I have on my phone, but when I select the music and then when the alarm goes off, the volume just seems way off. It's only playing out of the bottom speaker and not out of the top speaker. If I play the music through Google Play or any other music, it plays out of both speakers fine. It only seems to be when it's trying to play it as an alarm.

Has anyone had any issue similar? If I choose one of the pre-installed tones it seems fine, I just can't get any of my songs to play as the alarm. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not something I have tried to be honest. I just use one of the preinstalled sounds.

I'm a creature of habit. I setup my alarms the same as I had them on my HTC One m8 and there is such a drastic change in the sound quality of the music alarms it's not even funny. I even moved the microSD card from the old phone to the new one so it's the exact same files. I prefer to wake up to music but considering the quality and volume is so poor, I've honestly slept through all of the alarms (I have four going off in 15 minute increments to different songs) and I've been late to work every day this week because I just don't hear the alarms the same as I used to and wake up later. I tried reaching out to HTC but they're no help. I was hoping someone else had tried this.

So I just tested this, and yes when my alarm goes off and it plays Eminem, it comes feoknthe bottom speaker only

You can also try Timely. It's in the app store. My alarms play out the top and bottom speakers just fine.

I had to set it off...but yeah. A LOT of it comes from bottom but if I cover it up with the palm of my hand sound is most certainly coming out of the top.

I can't stand ads so I bought the $1.99 version of the app lol, but it was doing the same thing until I turned off one option. In the advanced settings, "Play in silent mode" was selected. I previewed the music alarm and it was muffled the same as in the stock app. If I turn that option off, everything was fine.

I don't use crescendo, I hate that feature lol. I turned it off in the stock app too. If I go into my DND settings, "Priority only allows" does indicate alarms, reminders and events, but when I go into that option, alarms is set to on, but grayed out so I can't turn that feature off.

Basically, it seems like it thinks the phone is in silent mode when it really isn't and that's affecting which sound the speaker comes out of for music alarms. McDoogie, thank you for confirming this for me because I was starting to think it was just my phone. For now I'll use Alarm Clock Xtreme and report the issue to HTC.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Hello
it´s no only with the alarm. If you hear carefully when your phone is ringing, it only sound in the lower speaker, but not in the upper speaker
the same thing if you try to place a song like ringtone...sound PRETY BAD, lower and muffled
Curiosly, at time when you´re selecting a ringtone, in the preview, sound in both speakers, but another history is when you apply your choice and the phone rings

Anyone figure out why ringtones/notifications only play from the bottom speaker? It sounds really bad.

I'm not sure if this is everybody because Maureen does only play the alarm from the bottom but I get the ringtone in music from both speakers. I also get it when I'm playing a ringtone and I get a notification. I have not tried it on a call yet because I have not put my SIM card in just yet.

several things: the model version ( us unlocked vs branded vs eu/ asia version)? root or without root?
I´m not only one, several cases reported to, XDA and reddit

I have only had my own Wi-Fi so far and when my notifications have gone off I have heard them loud and clear and what it sounds like good quality from both speakers. It very well could be a software glitch that is not affecting all phones. I'm just not experiencing this issue.

After multiple attempts to get through to HTC, calling them to their crappy call center in Colombia, I sent them the following e-mail through their UK website (cause US website doesn't allow emails...):

"Hi,

I currently own the HTC 10. For some arbitrary reason, you decided to make the stupid *** decision of forcing the alarm volume to only use the bottom speaker instead of both of the phone's speakers while playing alarms. No matter what app I use, no matter what options I enable/disable, the HTC will choose to only play the alarm through the bottom speaker. This problem is currently universal throughout all of the HTC 10 devices. Music and ringtones will play normally through both speakers, but alarms will not. I have even spoken to customer service, twice through chat, and once over the phone, about this issue and they claimed it was a "feature" rather than admitting it's a very inconvenient bug. Disabling "gentle alarm" makes no difference. Using a 3rd party app makes no difference. I would like my alarm to be louder and use both speakers on the phone just like it should be. This "feature" as you claim it has no purpose.

Regards,
A dissatisfied HTC 10 owner
"

Yeah, clearly I wasn't happy with this, lol.
