HTC 10 vs Honor 8--Is HTC 10 worth the extra $?

I'm in the market for a new phone. Since the Pixel announcement was a bust, I think I've narrowed it down to a new HTC 10 (for $550), a used mint condition S7, or a new Honor 8.

The Honor 8 at $399 is really intriguing, but for some reason, the HTC 10 is calling to me. Is the extra $150 worth it for the HTC 10? Why? I like a fingerprint scanner on the front, so that's one benefit I see, but I'm not sure that's enough to justify the extra money.

Why would you choose the HTC 10 over the Honor 8? (Or why would you choose the Honor 8 over the HTC 10?)

Gracias.

Better Audio, Aluminium, better software ( i dont like Huawei/Honor look and software UI), less bloatware, qhd, ois and better low light performance.

The Honor 8 has the dual camera, the beautiful blue colour and is cheaper. I dont see any other advantage over the Htc.

For me it is worth the extra money, even though i think about the Pixel, since i am a sucker for Stock Android. I like the brand Htc and the phone is a tank build wise. Does everything very well, i dont see any negatives. Would give it in every department an 8 or a 9 out of 10.

This. Also HTC 10 has higher resolution screen, optical stabilization, RAW image capture, front camera optical stabilization, micro SD support up to 2TB, water resistance, recharge 50% in 30 mins, and a few minor superior specs.

The only benefit I see of the Honor 8 is dual camera. But then again, not sure the benefit of that either. So, it's not really $150 extra just for the finger print reader.

The ability to use Wi-Fi calling on T-Mo is the reason I went with the HTC10. The Honor 8 lacks that feature.

Tried the honor 8 and want impressed really. It's de event for 399 but that's about it. The HTC 10 is twice the phone really.

Just to clarify, you will obviously get a one sided opinion on the Htc subforum, since we all love the 10.

But if you have the money and want to keep the phone for 2 or more years, then you have plenty of options to buy. I do think the Honor 8 is a good phone, but the Htc 10 is one of the best phones in 2016 without a doubt. There is no best phone, since that depends on your needs, but you can name a handful of them in that category.

If you have the possibility, try them out. Maybe you dont need to spend the extra money if the Honor has everything you need in a smartphone. But i value build quality, battery, performance, design, display and audio. The Htc is top notch in every department for me.

They couldnt be any different though. Emui 4.1 vs Sense 8, dual camera without ois vs ultarpixel camera with double ois, aluminium vs glass, traditional smartphone manufacturer vs relatively knew, one is on the up, the other loses market share, average audio vs good audio, full hd vs qhd etc...

Before i went for the Htc, i wanted the Huawei P9 or the Galaxy S7. Both good phones, but the Huawei software is too much iphone like and the Galaxy is great, but i value performance and Aluminium more.

Great input. I was trying to decide which forum to post under as I knew bias would be on either side. The HTC sale lasts until Monday, so I have a few days to ruminate. Thanks again.

Don't forget if you buy unlocked, HTC has been pretty good with security updates compared to the top manufacturers and you also get Uh Oh protection for the first year.

Otherwise after having the phone for 8 months I've noticed no slow down, pictures are great, and audio is better than any other phone on the market(through headphones)

I will say this. I like the AMOLED display more then the LCD but the color were way off on the honor vs the htc. I just got the htc through the promo there offering now and having both phones side by side when it comes to performance they're very similar. But you have to really like the other software you can put a launcher on it but it still doesn't help with the notification panel and what not it's very strange. Best Buy does have that phone on display so you could always go there and play around with it and then maybe hit up up Sprint store or a Verizon store in play around with HTC 10 and get some Hands-On time

So tempted by the Camellia Red, which they just got in stock. My main concern with the HTC 10 is the screen when viewing it with polarized sunglasses, I've heard it's real hit or miss. Can anyone shed some light on that?

It will make the screen seem darker in either Landscape or portrait. Not both. But I haven't found it to be an issue really

If you get the sharp screen it will be dark in horizontal with polarized glasses on. If you get Tianma screen it'll be dark vertically with glasses. I've had both. The sharp you can't see at all with polarized glasses. The tianma you can see the screen just dark.
