Let me start off by saying I love HTC. That being said, I bought the M9 on the premise that it was a flagship that would be ahead of all previous HTC's. I understand that there is a M9+, and im a bit irritated I didnt get that phone. But I read today there is another flagship in the works just after releasing the M9. This bothers me because I wanted a true HTC flagship for at least a year. Maybe im ranting, but if im stuck with a phone for 2 years I at least want it to be top of the line for a while.

How it this Aero phone released "just after releasing the M9". It won't be until November is my understanding. That is almost 6 months later which is an eternity in tech. This isn't the same as the M9+ which was released a few weeks later but not globally. You have a point there. This company is hemorrhaging money this year and you want them to wait until Spring 2016 to do something about it to stem the tide? That's not realistic.

I just feel a bit cheated. Im starting to agree with some that the M9 isnt as impressive as it could have been. But im coming from an M7, so maybe I need to relax.

I had an M7 before, yes you need to relax. lol. There is always going to be something better coming along. Besides, I am much happier with this phone now than I was in April when I first got it and I don't even have 5.1 yet.

The rumors surrounding this phone have me confused. I've read that it is an "intermediate" device which I'm guessing means mid-range. I've also read that it's gonna be quad HD with some kind of brand new camera tech. Those two seem to fight each other. All I know is if they release something that soon after the M9, and it blows it out of the water I won't be the only peeved customer. I'm not saying I don't like or am disappointed in the M9, because I'm not. I quite like. But $650 is a lot to spend to have a better device released only 6 months later by the same company. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yep!
Looks like the new HTC big boss want to erase the ''error'' called M9, and replaced it by a WoW flagship to reboots HTC brand worldwide.
Personally I am satisfied with the M9, I had an S6 for 20 days and somehow can't live without the premium feeling of both metal and Sense UI.
Camera is as good as G4 and S6 for daylight now.
Though the M9 was so bashed up by reviews before the camea and thermals fix that sales are tiny. So HTC want to save itself by launching a new flasgship in the iphone 6s/Note 5 area of launch

For the very reasons you all have given--feeling cheated, feeling punked by the idea of a "better" flagship being released 6 months after the flagship you bought, seeing a company turning its back on its own product--I hope HTC goes with a completely different form factor than the M9's for this Aero/Hero device, even if that means skipping the metal unibody entirely.

A "refreshed" M9 is just going to cheese off current M9 owners like yourselves (even if the camera tech actually turns out to be "groundbreaking") and do little to convince anyone who avoided the M9 because of the "same old, same old" claim that it looked too much like the M8.

Of course, I want them to go bigger, but they've at least got to go for different.

Please don't go bigger. The thing that has always drawn me to the One series has been flagship quality/specs without having a device so wide my thumb hurts from texting.

Amen. One of the reasons I chose the m9 was the size, I'm not a fan of 5.5+ phones. Coming from a bb z10 (4.3?) even this is a stretch, but 5 is the sweetspot I think, unless the phone is the exact same size as the screen - the m9 has a lot of space above/below the screen which I hope will be better utilized in future iterations. So tall!

I can handle the height of the M9, but those phones wider I always feel like I'm gonna drop as I type. (I never type with 2 hands.)
