HTC charger glitch

Had my HTC 10 charging on the charger that came with the phone last night and woke up to it at 20%. An error message that said something like phone drawing too much power. I restarted the phone and the next message stated to use HTC authentic charging accessories and still wouldn't charge. I feel the charger is faulty because I tried it in another usb charger and it worked just fine however it was not a quick charge type. I contacted HTC and they suspect it to be an app causing the problem. They told me to start the phone in safe mode and research it that way. I will further troubleshoot that problem later when I get home from work.

Thoughts?

Additionally:
I have multiple USB charged items and would like to use a USB dock. Has anyone used this or have one with QC3.0?
AUKEY Dual Quick Charge 3.0 Ports and 4 Ports USB Charger.

Thank you.

Safe Mode is definitely worth trying, although it seems less likely to me that an app is causing that kind of issue. You could try bringing your charger to your wireless store and ask if you can test it out on one of their HTC 10 floor models.

The charger is toast. It says it's charging but it isn't.
Can't got to a wireless store at the moment I'm deployed and resources are limited. Just going to buy the multi charger on Amazon.

The 10 is kind of picky when it comes to chargers. How ever I use an anker quick charge with anker cable and havent gotten the warning. I know there have been several people who tried cheap as chargers and got this message.

My wife has an S6 and it is picky with chargers also. Is the quick charge feature causing this? Thank you for the suggestion on trying anker chargers.

I finally had a chance to try charging the phone in safe mode. It rapid charges no problem. How do I figure out what is messing with the phone?

You might just have to go through the pain in the *** task of doing a factory reset. I'm not sure how to figure out what's causing the problem. You can try contacting htc and seeing if you can pull a log cat and email it to them.

Did a reset and still same problem. Frustrating to say the least.

It's very possible the wall charger was toasted by an electrical surge while plugged in. That would be my guess. As stated, they are a little finicky. I use an Anker charger that is QC2.0 certified and I feel it is safe and charges just as fast almost

Edit: should have kept reading the post...

See when the charging issue started and start looking at apps that where recently installed or updated around that time

Are you using the factory cable? I had purchased a third party cable that causes same error when used.

If I use the factory or the Anker cables I have, no error.

I deleted every app. Then did a factory reset. Has to be the charger.

Ive tried multiple cables. Stock and aftermarket. All of them have the same outcome.

It may have been a surge that killed the charger...don't really know. HTC is sending a new one I hope this fixes the issue.

Thank you all for your help in fixing the problem.

I've had this issue a few times, but not consistently. I've had it with both the factory charger and a off brand quick charger car charger. I usually don't notice until it's too late and I have to leave, but it general works the next time I plug it into the charger. Not sure if it just doesn't make a good connection or what. I am not going to be happy if this turns into a constant issue.
