Have you tried to do a factory reset first?
Even if it won't boot, this process should get it going.

Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

I have done it many times but without any effects. Phone still doesn't work. Therefore the only way is reinstalling the software, so I need it very urgently.

There appears to be several different sub models of the Desire 500...

But this link should be a good start. Even if it's not the most recent, it'll pull the updates down after it's back up and running.
