Well I am A bit confused here... the battery that came with my Thunderbolt says HTC on it....but according to the Email I received from HTC inquiring about the possibility of an OEM fit 1800mah battery from them they dont manufacture the batteries for their devices and I need to contact the manufacturer directly?

here is the Email I was sent.

FYI I was really just fishing for info I dont have a problem with my oem battery but if an 1800mah oem came out and could get me more then 15 hours of up time id get it. but they did include some power saving tips for what its worth.

"Dear ______,

I am sorry to hear that you can not find any information on an extended battery.

______, when HTC releases a phone, it comes with a battery. This battery is not produced by HTC. You will need to contact the battery manufacturer to see if they are making an 1800+mah battery that is compatable for the HTC Thunderbolt.

In the meantime, here are some tips for you to conserve battery life if you are experiencing this issue.

1. Try rebooting your phone every few hours. Rebooting your phone clears the phone
internal memory and shuts down programs that may be running in the background and using battery.

2. Try turning off the data connection when not in use. Data connections in the background
and syncing can cause the phone to use more battery even when sleeping

3. You can set your display to brightness to auto. Allowing the phone to adjust the
brightness allows for optimal viewing while conserving as much battery as possible.

4. Setting a static (not a Live Wallpaper) can save some battery life.

We apologize Ed, for any inconvenience that you may have experienced.

I just really found this response weird....

Nobody (almost) makes their own batteries anymore. What's important is that if it caries their brand, it was manufacturered to their specs, or to specs they are satisfied with for use with their product.

"Try rebooting your phone every few hours."

Sounds like a great way to waste 7% of your battery every few hours. *headdesk*

Rebooting doesn't actually take a chunk of battery. It does take a bit because it runs the CPU pretty hard for a minute but the lower battery reading has to do with Android than anything else.
