Why dont you want the moto? Is it blur? I think HTC will release but probably not till later in the year. I can probably imagine anythign from either summer to holiday season from anyone else thats not LG or Motorola.

I would suggest getting the phone of your choice. Whichever that is. That way you won't be disappointed.

does anyone know if there is even any rumored devices out there for for htc with a dual core processor? I really like htc but i want a dual core.. and if its later this summer or into fall the processors should be optimized for the new software.

Yes. I heard that dual-core HTC phones are supposed to come out this year. If you want a dual-core HTC phone wait for it if not get the thunderbolt.

Im not updating my phones until there is a dual core phones out there . I can go no further til then because I am already at the top of the pile , haha ;)

I agree with AllenRulz 100% on Motorola. We know that the new phone they're releasing will almost certainly have a locked and encrypted bootloader, so why pay good money for Motorola's anti-root product. No, I'm going with the Thunderbolt, later in the spring.

From small information gathered at CES we will start seeing dual core snapdragons in Q2. Expect HTC to be in the thick of things.

HTC will absolutely have dual core phones out this year. Even if we assume that HTC will only use Qualcomm SoCs (which is fair but not a given) We know that Qualcomm's dual core chips have already been shipping for more than six months. IF you really want a dual core HTC the longest you will have to wait is summer imo, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them start of Q2.

Anti root hmm the only thing this locked bootloader stops you from doing is flashing custom kernels and roms that can't. Run on your current kernel like gb. It doesn't stop you from rooting your device. Now the nand lock that HTC uses does make it harder to root a device ;)

I really appreciate all the responses. I LOVE this forum, everyone is so cool and helpful compared to other forums :-)

I wouldn't expected an dualcore HTC device until mid late summer maybe into fall. But that's just a guess

Yeah, what's with that? And AT&T of all companies releasing the Atrix within a month perhaps.
Iphone isnt exclusive to att anymore they need to make a bang so they went with a real superphone and are probably gonna release it fast

Qualcomm just announced their plans for dual core processors so don't expect HTC to have them any time soon. Moto has been using omap in a lot of their phones and were able to release dual core because those processors are ready. Unless out of no where HTC releases a Tegra 2 phone which is unlikely, unless its a tablet

Umm... Qualcomm shipped their first dual core processors 6 months ago as I showed in the link in my last post.

Not really sure how Moto having used OMAPs in the past translates into them being able to more quickly release their crop of new dual core Tegra 2 phones. The Bionic, Atrix, and Xoom are all using the Tegra 2 not OMAP chips.

To me this shows just the opposite of what you are saying, HTC could just as easily release Tegra 2 phones if they wanted to.

I would wait for a dual core HTC. BTW, I'm on the same boat as you, I wouldn't get a Motorola either.
