HTC evo 4g i need help, new guy

Im a total new guy to the fourms, and have had my evo for 6ish months, id love free wifi tethering, and maybe better battery life? and to get rid of all those standard nas car apps and crap, but i do want to keep the weather app and all that cool stuff, and i dont want to loose my contacts, (maybe there is a way to save them) ? any help would be great, im not very good with computers, so simple would be perfect! hct evo 4G please let me know if there is something simple i can get done! -CS

Free wifi tethering requires root. If you dont know what rooting is you can search for it, plenty of help out there. I would not recommend rooting if you are not a tech person or have little experience. Once you root there are many more options available to tweak your device for better battery life.

For battery life, there are a few apps out there that can help. Try Juicedefender, configure it how you want. It works without root, but also has more options of you are rooted. SetCPU can help battery life too, but requires root.
