HTC Evo Shift Vs Samsung Epic 4G *ROOTED*

So I'm positive everyone see's this question all the time. But they always judge it on the stock phones. Well I'm looking to get one of these phones, but to ROOT them. Which one do you believe I should get and why? I'm also looking into battery life even though buying an extended battery isn't a problem. Also which rom do you think is best for your pick? Thanks in advance.

I took the plunge just a week ago and rooted my Shift, and loaded Cyanogenmod 7. The combo of that and the SetCPU app has practically doubled my battery life. Normally at work I'm charging my phone by 1pm because my phone is down around 40% battery life, with little use. I'm now getting through an entire day...7am to 11pm...on a single charge. CM7 is pretty sweet as well.

No experience with the Epic...will leave that for someone else.
