Dear All,
I am brand new at this site, so I apologize in advance if this post is not appropriate to this forum. I have talked to HTC tech support for the past 2 days, tired several of their suggestions and am reduced to a factory reset, of which I have not yet done, and would like to avoid. I use vista on my pc and 7 on my laptop. I have conducted a system restore on my computer to no avail.
I have a HTC EVO 4g, flashed to Boost that will not mount the disk or sync. I use the phone for (pc) internet. I have uninstalled and re-installed sync. I use pdanet, open garden and wifi tether apps. I recently updated the PRL in an attempt to improve my reception and I also ran a virus scan program. Other than that, I have uninstalled the 3 most recent (downloaded) apps; roaming control, virus scan and google play (which will not work on my phone anyway).
I have since ruled out the pc/lt and cables - tried a different (exact model) phone on both computers and it worked perfectly; prompted as intended. I have attempted to download/install the most recent (HTC) driver, although sync will not update; it errors before completion. I have also received a pda error: sync error = 1, on occasion.
When I plug the phone into the pc via a usb, there is no pop-up 'connect to pc' feature. The 'ask' function is checked. Regardless of what I select, the phone charges, and does allow me to use any of the 3 tethering apps. The phone used to function properly and I only discovered this issue when I was attempting to upload some pictures for the sell of an ebay item. I am unable to sync or upload. Finally, my computer recognizes the phone as a drive, yet when I double click on the drive it asks me to insert a disk.
Any assistance with this frustrating issues will be very much appreciated. Thank you!
