Build
Overall - The build quality on the Flyer seems very good. The aluminum unibody design seems to give it a very ?solid? feel and looks great. The white plastic/rubberized upper and lower pieces seem to compliment the tablet nicely and feel nice in your hand. They have more grip then the aluminum so it seems like HTC put a lot of thought into the design. These white pieces help when holding the tablet, as the aluminum doesn?t have a lot of grip to it.
Front ? The raised lip/bezel seems like another small detail that adds a nice feel to the device. The bezel is raised on the top and bottom of the Flyer and is almost flush with the sites of the screen (holding in portrait mode). The bezel helps to hold the device and give you a feel for the top or bottom of the scree (or sides in landscape).
Misc Build - One other thing I?ll mention about the white plastic pieces (that I haven?t seen mentioned) is HTC seemed to use some of their previous designs to help improve on the Flyer. One concern from many EVO owners was the camera lens. On the Flyer the top plastic piece actually protects the camera and can come off. I though this was a great design. It seems you could replace the upper back piece (if they are available) if you get excessive scratches on the camera lens impacting picture quality. This may seem like a small thing, but to me it shows they put thought into the device and as a consumer these small things are important to me.
Weight ? The device is a heavier then the WifI Galaxy tab. It?s a noticeable difference but with the unibody and overall build quality I think its worth the added weight. Even with the weight the Flyer feels good/solid when using it. It doesn?t feel too heavy and the weight seems to give the feel of a good solid device.
Size
7.7" x 4.8" x 0.52" ? This size tablet is the ?sweet spot? for me. It?s small enough to be portable but big enough to work on and very easy to type on in landscape or portrait mode.
Interface
The Flyer (currently) runs Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1 for Tablet. I personally like Sense. The combinations of Sense and Gingerbread on this tablet seem to be a great pair. Everything is smooth and easy to use (if you are familiar with Android/Sense). They?ve added a few visual components that give the interface a nice ?flair? as well.
Also, the Flyer does have Haptic feedback. I couldn?t find information on this anywhere (other then forums) but, I can confirm it does have Haptic feedback (which I?m happy about).
Misc
I?ve seen some post regarding the HTC Pen and many folks don?t like the fact that its not included (US Version). I can understand this. With that aside the HTC Pen seems to give the Flyer additional uses/functions. It?s easy to use (once you get the hang of it) and the pen feels solid following the build quality of the Flyer. I think the pen and the scribe technology is a nice touch to differentiate the tablet in a market that is growing rapidly. I also think HTC is using the pen/scribe as a test to see ?what?s next? in the tablet space. I feel they want to see how well the pen/scribe is received and used to see if this type of technology has a fit for future tablets/device.
Once concern I have with the pen is - without a case where do you put it? I?m sure cases and accessories will address this in the future, but, currently it has no real ?spot? to hold/store the pen with the Flyer.
Overall
I?m very impressed with the Flyer so far. I haven?t had it long enough to test battery life but in a few days I should have a better feel for battery performance. Overall the flyer feels very solid. It?s nice to hold with a fast smooth interface.
