HTC has listened, says no more locked bootloaders

HTC could very well release some official method for unlocking the Dinc2, and I hope they do. One of the things I love about my OG Dinc is that it's been blown wide open and there are lots of great ROM's available for it. I would love to see the same thing happen for the Dinc2.

My guess is that an unlocked bootloader will be sent OTA in a maintenance release shortly before 2.3 is sent out.

I hope so because I want this bad boy unlocked their is to much power hidden away that isn't being tapped into and I want it

That statement means nothing since:

In any case, it’s always important to discern between locked, encrypted bootloaders, and locked bootloaders with encrypted keys

So, don't read too far into that just yet ;) Even the N1 had a locked bootloader from the retailer

I would agree. One comment from one low level CSR, does not an official corporate policy make.

In any case, if VZW have an impending switch to capped data plans coming out, perhaps they don't care so much about hucksters rooting their phones anymore.

Glad that's out of the way.

Here's to hoping we get something soon from HTC on existing devices (esp. Inc2, of course). Then, an update that backs it up.
