I have a new issue that I am finding with my Hero and not sure if I am the odd man out. I have had several quality issues with my Hero from a poor seal around my screen allowing dust in to pealing of my power button to now a crack on my bezel around the USB mini connection of which has now completely broken off.
What is up with the workmanship of this phone? I love my HTC Hero but man does it suck with the quality of how it was built…. Anyone else finding this problem with their Hero? I have never dropped mine and don’t know what else to do.

Have you took it to sprint and asked the tech to fix that for you?

@beezy420 - Good call! I hesitated to take my phone in because of this issue as I have never had good experience with repair service from Sprint, however.... I took it in during my lunch break to give it a try and low and behold I am getting a replacement unit. Not for the new bezel crack (as according to Sprint, this is a new issue that they are not aware of) but for the metallic coating on my buttons, of which Sprint has in their system as a known issue and to replace the units. So FYI to those who are having the button issue.

The bezel around the USB on my phone has also cracked. I doubt it would be replaced becuase they may easily say it's wear or stress on the phone caused by the user. Also, since I am rooted I don't want a replacement phone because chances are it will come with 2.1 and the latest update which closed the recent root exploit. I'll have to deal with it until a new phone is out that I want to upgrade to unfortunately :(
