HTC Incredible 1 upgrade question

I did a search and didn't see this so hope I'm not repeating this. I have the original Incredible 1. It has been an awesome phone but now it is not charging right and the battery is getting extremely hot. Also I have a lot of dropped calls but I also live in a concrete block home.

I am considering upgrading to the Dinc 2 but is it really that much of an upgrade to pay $200? Then there is the Droid Charge to consider. I like the HTC UI but would consider trying another.

Also I'm not sure if I really need 4G. I am worried about the pricing of the 4G plans and if my phone will be able to connect. (So why pay for service if I can't get it). We have 4G in my area but even my Dinc 1 goes to 1X a lot of the time in my home.

So the reason for upgrade would be screen size would love 4.3 but would got for 4". Maybe a little faster but that isn't a huge issue for me but maybe I would like streaming videos. Better reception is the main reason for upgrading. Not sure if the new technology gets better signals and therefore I may get a little better reception.

Any suggestions as to which one to consider? Also would consider the Thunderbolt.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I say wait and see what others are saying about it first, I know it's so far getting great reviews but give things a week or so to see what everyday use reviews start to surface. Also a good idea would be to go to a VZW store and play with the demo next to your phone, compare signal strength between them next to each other in the store.. I kinda always heard that HTC antennas were their week point vs. say Motorola and I believe it solely on the fact that I get bad reception at my desk at work where as a co-workers Droid 1 and another co-workers Droid X have "more bars" than me. Also remember our Gingerbread update is around the corner which will prob have a new radio update that could improve things. hope this helps! :)

If you can, I would try and get the phone from Europe. They have more reception power compared to US phones restricted by the FCC. (brains fry a little quicker).

Unless you want a data plan and get a.......... "discount" for a 2 yr contract.

3G or ....4G. Well who cares. If I use the web to download films and such, I'll use a free WiFi connection.

Thunderbolt is ok, regardless of what you hear about the battery. It's the same with all new Androids, you learn power management quickly.

Personally, I'm holding out for the new HTC Armagetton. 3Ghz quad core processor, 128Gb internal memory, hard coded for the upcoming 5G networks, 512Gb Sd capacity, virtual extended screen to 8x4 inches, self healing OS (capable of installing any customized ROM, 12mpxl camera fore and aft cameras, with satelitte voice uplinks.....

Crap, I just woke up..... to reality....:'(
