htc inspire wont factory reset

hey i have an htc inspire and i forgot my password and gmail info. right now it says that there has been too many pattern attempts.
when i go into hboot and factory reset it, it fades to a black screen and stays there
someone please help me !!! i dont mind losing all my info i just want to use my phone. i dont have a working sim at the moment

Go into the stock recovery. Wait for the red triangle. Then hold down Volume Up + Power to open the stock recovery. Clear cache. Reboot.

I am also having the problem. After i hit the reset all data option it goes to the reset screen and then goes black. When i remove the battery and try to reboot it the phone freezes on the white HTC screen and wont go any further. Any ideas. ATT wont help since it is no longer under warranty.
