The HTC M9 is rumoured to have a 5" screen. How many of you would be happy with another 5" device? I'd prefer a 5.2 - 5.3" screen for my next device. Might be time to change manufacturer after 6 or so years with HTC

Good, 5" is good enough
Smaller bezels,
Better camera
Keep the 2 speakers,
Improve battery life
Main things I want

If you just do a Google search, you'll see rumors anywhere from 5.2" to 5.5". Personally, I miss the M7 screen size. I just can't get used to the M8, so I would never go any bigger.

I would be more than happy with 5.0 screen, but Im open to a 5.3 or so also. I dont want much larger than that honestly. With the speakers already adding height to the phone, I dont need another 1/2 inch or more added to get a bigger screen.

I'd only be ok with bigger if they did it in a same or smaller footprint as the M8. It's my absolute size limit for a phone. Either stay at 5 inch and make the bezels even smaller or go up a little via smaller bezels bigger screen same footprint.

Personally I think I'd prefer a 5.2" screen in the next device. Nothing bigger

They will likely release this 5" in the Spring and a 5.5" QHD Phablet in the fall. So much belly aching.

5" screen is more than big enough. Not that I'm even considering upgrading from my M8 because I love this phone. I'll wait til I'm due for an upgrade and get the M10/Hima 2/whatever they call it.

I'm more than happy with the current footprint. Any bigger and it'd too much for one handed use (which I like to do). If they can fit a bigger screen in it, cool, but I'd be happy with the same size. I'm also not excited about QHD on a phone screen. I think 1080p is a good sweet spot and should now focus on image quality more than resolution. Then again, the M8 screen is so crisp, it's hard to beat. I guess better daylight visibility would be good.

Love a big *** phone but I always put them in my pockets and my freaking Lumia 1520's headphone jack broke.

I think 5 is nice and still the sweet spot for me.

I am waiting anxiously for the M9/Hima. According to latest rumors from upleaks the dimensions will be slightly smaller than M8 with the same 5" screen size. That is perfect for me, coming from a 4.7" RMHD. I don't need or want any bigger than 5", otherwise the phone becomes too awkward to handle and carry in your pocket. Rumor is there will be a Hima Ultra at 5.5" for those who like bigger phones.

The larger screen would be the direction I'd like to see HTC go. However HTC needs to fix the proportions of their device in the future. The M8 even with its smaller screen is not as easy to hold nor use one handed versus some of its rivals who have larger displays. The M8 is TALL. Too tall in fact. Sure the speakers are the reason but why is it so slim edge to edge??? Not to be confused with thin. The ergonomics are just a bit off for comfortable one handed use. However a case helps with this issue. So if the M9 fixes the proportions of the device then even with a 5" display I would be intrigued...

like most here Im happy with a 5 inch screen, tried a 6" phablet and love the screen for movies and gaming but on the go trying to find a pocket to put it in was annoying and texting for me was tough with one hand. I hope they can trim the top and bottom bezel down some with front facing speakers, the m8 definitely could trim about 3/8 off just losing the htc logo area on the bottom of the screen

You're assuming that is wasted space. In electronics, there's no such thing as wasted space. I'm sure if they could have fit all the components and circuitry in without the black bar at the time, they would have. Perhaps things will have advanced enough to not need it, but I actually like it there even if only for aesthetics.

I never assumed this is wasted space, the black bar area looks more like a buffer and moves the screen area up slightly so your thumb has room to swipe up from the bottom of the screen without interference . Some of the leaked m9 info appears to show this area was eliminated or reduced in size but we wont know till more credible evidence shows up

Screen size is fine as is.

As for people complaining about the M8 being tall, I've never understood why that's a problem. It's the width that's going to present a problem for my pocket.

As for bezels. I like bezels. This trend towards having none at all is just ridiculously impractical. It'll just just lead to accidental touches on the sides and necessitate a case to avoid them, thereby increasing the size and negating the whole point of it.

Agreed. Heck, I get accidental touches even with a case on the M8 because the screen protector is almost flush with my case lip.
