HTC mail app won't work on IMAP accounts requiring root path--obstacle to many users!

Just switched from iPhone to Evo (FANTASTIC!), and am planning to get many people in the medical system where I work to consider switching (doctors, residents, med students, nurses, social workers...almost EVERYONE in this system has a smartphone, mostly iPhones!).

HOWEVER, our IMAP mail accounts do not work unless we can specify "mail" as the root folder path! HTC's email program doesn't do this (vs stock Android, which I set up for someone with a Droid). I'm now using the K9 app which isn't bad, but the problem is that no one used to an iPhone is going to want to put up with not being able to use the phone "out of the box"!

Does anyone see any way around this?

Thanks,
Aaron

Have you tested it to see if it would automatically pickup the prefix? I dug through and didn't see the option for it unfortunately.

Yes. It sets up without complaint (ie, doesn't give any errors), just doesn't find any new mail...

I emailed the university IT people to see if they can change the root folder on my account...will see what they say :)
