Hello All,
When I go to my messages app and click on a thread, it sometimes shows "please wait" message and won't load the text. It happens a couple times a day and it's not just limited to one contact. I deleted unnecessary text messages thinking that might help but no luck. Any idea what is causing this? I've attached a pic below. Tyvm in advance.

I can't recall ever getting that message at all. Try this

Settings>apps>messages>storage at the bottom there is a clear cache button.

Or go into settings>storage>clear cache for all apps.

If that doesn't work. Head over to apkmirror.com and download the HTC messages apk file and install it. There might be a bit of code that's not reading right.

You could maybe check your apn settings and make sure they are good to go. It may be trying to load MMS messages and the bad apn settings might cause it.

Lastly back everything up and do a factory data reset.

I never had that specific problem, but I did not numerous other problems with HTC Messages. I ended up using a different messaging app and haven't had any issues since. That would be by suggestion and maybe the best bet/easiest.

Any updates on this situation, OP? As another user has suggested, if this problem continues to persist, perhaps it would be wise to download another messaging app. Textra and Chomp SMS are two very good apps with high success rates.

Well I cleaned the cache and it worked for a day or so. If I clear recent apps and try going into messages it will work after trying a few times but it never happened before this device. It's running me insane. I wonder if you're on to something regarding the network though. I live in Chattanooga TN and twice when trying to view my FB app, it tells me that my account is locked because someone tried to log into my account from a HTC 10 device in Nashville TN but it's me! I'll play around with network settings. I may try Verizon's Message+ app in the interim. I really appreciate all of the suggestions. I'll report back my findings.

Apologies for the delay in replying. I'm a scatter brain on the best of days but working a lot to meet key deliverables so it's magnified x 10 😂 . I'm lucky if I remember to eat.
