I have been holding off installing 4.3 on my AT&T HTC ONE after reading reports here and on other sites about issues after updating. Some have complained of bad battery life, purple haze camera effect after updating when it was not an issue before the update and other issues. But some have had no issues and say they have improved battery life and are very happy with the update. So it seems AT&T downloaded the 4.3 update to my phone overnight and is now asking me to install it. I delayed it for 8 hrs.(The maximum time it would allow) so do i install it or do i stay with what came with the phone. I have been very happy with the phone as is and have had no issues. I would hate to have this update do something to the great experience i have had with this phone. Why couldn't the transition to 4.3 been seamless for everyone? Feedback on you experience after updating to 4.3 please. Thanks everyone.

I'm very happy I did have to do a factory reset bur that is kinda normal when doing such a bug up date. so I suggest that you back up your stuff to your computer and use so w kind da of back up assistant like mybackup pro but that's only if the phone e acts up.

I have had zero issues but I downloaded directly from htc and it completely reset my device so it was a fresh install.

I updated OTA within the first 30 mins it was available....no factory resets....and it runs like a dream for me. Battery life is noticably better...and overall phone navigation in general is smoother.

When pulling down the notification center and pressing the squares on the top right, the animation to the quick toggles are choppy. Also when swiping away a notification, the notification below it just come up, without any type of animation. 4.3 sucks, I would stick with 4.1.2.

4.3 is way superior than 4.1.2.

perhaps not in terms of new features but certainly with under-the-hood improvements.

few people have had issues with the installation whilst others just go out of their way to finding a glitch here and there and those are the posts you see here.

people who are happy running 4.3 don't bother starting new threads.

The batteries been amazing, a huge improvement in my opinion. The only thing I've been getting used to is the quick menu settings in the notification with little success.

Exactly the same here...got it immediately when available No factory resets, runs great, battery life seems to be better but I'm going to give a couple weeks to really determine that. I can so that with the Power Saver turned on, it seems to last a long time with no observable difference in performance to me, other than a slightly dimmer display.

Really like having the toggles in the notification bar. No issues with the camera so far, and everything else seems to be buttery smooth and fast, as usual.

It may seem like a little thing, but I also really like being able to set different volumes for the ringtone and notifications.

I have updated to the new 4.3 and I love it. No issues whatsoever, and little changes here and there all around. It's NOT normal to factory reset phone update, but it CAN happen, and I wouldn't worry about it. Always a good idea to back up first. As far as battery life.... I haven't noticed difference. Some days battery seems longer, then it seems to die quicker, then it seems the same, then finally... I just can't remember what it was like before. Go for it.

I think you're on par with your assessment of the battery. One day I can leave for work at 100% charged and return 12 hours later at 50% with NO use except a few phone calls. Next day, I can leave at 100% and return 12 hours later at 18% with NO use except a few phone calls. I realize there are a lot of factors involved but the variances I'm getting aren't right. It has seemed to have stabilized a little over the past week but not by a huge margin.

Other quirkes:

Random disappearing/reappearing contact apps in message app.

Dial a number and as soon as I press send, the screen goes black till it connects.

During a call, pulling the phone away from my face does not light up the screen for about 5 to 10 seconds 50% of the time. And of that 50%, 25% it doesn't come back on at all till I hit the power button.

I have done factory resets and cleared cache in recovery to no avail.

I think a lot of people are having issues because they are installing the update and carrying on like nothing ever happened. A factory reset is a must after such a large install, this can and will help with any future problems you may run in to if you had not performed a factory reset. I am not saying that a FR will end all of your issues as we are all different and our expectations can be higher or lower than everyone else but it is advisable to do one after such an update.

Hi, I'm not happy at all! I very dissapointed!
I have a new unlocked phone from Amazon USA, update to the new Android versi?n (+500MB), and stuck on the "htc quietly brilliant" screen, forever.
I made several times a recovery, a factory reset, nothing!
It starts again in the same screen.
If I shutdown the phone, its restart alone in the same screen.
It's no rooted, factory settings, used as a regular user, just installed apps from the shop.
The big problem is that I live in Argentina.
If someone knows how to fix it, I appreciate this help so much.
Sorry if I'm wrong, I have no experience in forums and this is a very similar to other post by me in this forum.

I did the install last night. I have no issues and everything seems fine. I am happy that everything seems to have went well. I feel really bad for those who have problems after updating. Thanks to everyone who responded.

I got the update notification while I was on vacation and I was a little nervous about something going wrong.

I, however, went a head and downloaded the update.

It took awhile, but everything went smoothly.

So far, I am very happy. I especially like the new quick menu in the notifications shade.

Also certain things seem to run more smoothly.

So far, I am happy.

Well lucky you !! :)

I did OTA with no reset which has worked fine, for the most part...I do have an issue now that may or may not have been there beforehand. My mobile connection (3G mostly, thanks Sprint for your shoddy coverage) will die on me a few times during the day. The 3G symbol is there, but no activity and everything times out. Sometime flipping into and out of Airplane mode fixes it, sometimes I have to restart the whole phone. Maybe I'll FR and try again.
