HTC One Desktop Cradle / Dock Thread

Its absolutely killing me that there isn't an OEM HTC cradle available yet. Nor are there any HTC One specific docks out there that I can find.

I'm a naked phone man and I don't see me ever having a case on this phone other than for planned events where I know the phone will be in an environment with a high chance for error on my part resulting in cosmetic damage.
With that said I have become paranoid that I am going to scratch the back of this phone all to hell even just laying it on my desk. I have a cradle for my EVO3D but it won't work obviously.
Not to mention its annoying to have to unplug my phone every time I get an email or a text just to look at it, respond, then plug it back in. I hate wires and cables on my desk. I NEED A DOCK!!

Anyone using a dock that works well?
Anyone happen to know if/when HTC will release one?
I really really really miss having the USB on the side like my Pre and EVO3D.

At the top of the Android Central news feed there is a photo of a One laying on a concrete wall and it is like nails on a chalkboard to me just looking at it.

^ I just picture that back of that phone scratched to hell.

That was the only dock I could find as well and I have been looking for some time now. I did purchase one last week and received it yesterday. The phone fits in the dock nicely and the dock also has an insert that can be removed to allow some phone cases to be left on. The only thing I didn't like was I have to use my old charger with this, no wall plug was with it only a very cheap looking USB cable that I don't think I would use for anything.

I picked up an iHome android dock until specific docks come out.
The only thing that disappointed me was that it doesn't do audio through USB. It comes with a separate cable. Not worth the effort for me. The companion alarm app isn't triggered by dock so I have my NFC tag set to trigger my usual alarm app and to silence phone. I just leave flip case opened to side, drop phone on charger and the dock and NFC tag do the rest.

Im the same way.... No case ever.. Im very cautious with my phone... But why such a beautiful phone has no factory dock.. Is crazy.. But i bought a matte clear back cover that protects the aluminum back.... But you can't tell becuse of the matte finish.. Now i dont worry at a restaurant or home whe i lay my phone down on its back.. But i still want a dock for work to keep everything orderly.

If you are that paranoid about scratches, you should buy a case. A thin, clear one, maybe.

As far as docks, I picked up an iOttie One-Touch to use at my desk. I did a quick search on Amazon, and this one wasn't available last week. It looks the part, though.

That's a slick-looking dock! Does it do anything, other than the obvious charging? I mean, does your phone recognize that it is docked and go into a "special" mode, as many other phones do?

I ordered the same one and no it doesn't. I just use a nfc tag to launch

Thanks, prissy. Despite being very techno-literate, I have never had the occasion to need to do an NFC-tag. Is that something I'm going to be able to set up without too much effort, or maybe, are there apps out there already that will tell the computer to act differently when it's plugged in vs. when it's on battery. (If that's part of the settings, then I am missing where!)

I think I saw this at best buy today. I also thought it said it auto launched an app?

The one at best buy had a battery built in as well to allow for mobil use as a speaker I guess, which I could do without.

I almost bought it but my wife started hinting I should wait, so I suspect she bought a dock of some sort for my birthday or something.

The nice thing about it was it is supposed to work with all Android devices, with a sliding connector. Could use it for my tablet as well as the one. It was metal, I think aluminum

I wouldn't recommend it. Ended up returning it. Scratched my phone.

Nfc task launcher and the assorted plug ins. You just tell app what you want to do, tap tag and within five minutes you have a programmed tag.

You are saying the one from BB scratched your phone, not the one from Amazon, correct?

Can you check and see if it allows for MHL passthrough? I need a dock for my car that allows MHL to pass through for my AppRadio2. My old HTC dock for my evo3d worked in that way.

You do know that you can easily just rub out most scratches that appear on the back of the One right?
