1. I had an iphone for a day, but I loved the way the email came right away. That is 'push' email, right? Similar to when I had Blackberries?

The mail program on the One OR K9, they only do specified time, or can I switch it to push, i.e. right away (correct?). Does push take up more battery or less, I would think less, not checking every so often.

2. I really prefer 7 screens. I might deal with 5, but Blinkfeed takes up one. So I will get back to a launcher. I was told some programs like the camera and TV would not be lost.
I am familiar with Go, which I think is too foo foo. I love Apex and especially Nova Prime For any reason, would you recommend one launcher or the other?

Thanks all

I can answer your email question about how fast can you get it. Like iPhone which has Push/Fetch email that you can leave on all the time or set it for time limits 15 mins etc. Yes you can get push email on your device if you set your email up as Exchange which supports Push email. I hope that answers your questions at least on the email. Lastly the more you allow your phone to do anything like fetch or push email it is going to affect your battery. Try Push email for a week and see what it does because you can always delete your email from exchange and go back to a traditional IMAP type of email.

Jag, I only know how to use mail or k9 and set it up as pull (check every so often) I know you said the more you check, the more the battery goes down

So I would think then like I said, that push only does it when mail comes, right, thus less battery use

Do you think when you get time you could explain (to someone slow) how to set up push with exchange. Am I wrong, but I think I saw that as an option above Yahoo which I originally set up

Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric and sure I would be happy to show you how to set up exchange email on the HTC One and by the way congrats i am jealous..:)

Let me give you a snippit on how exchange works on the One which is Microsoft Activsync:

[NOTE]Working with Exchange ActiveSync emailEnjoy the powerful email features of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync right on the HTC
One. Flag important email messages, set your out of the office reply, or send invites to
your next team meeting while you're on the go.
Flagging an email
1. Switch to your Exchange ActiveSync account.
2. While viewing the inbox, tap the flag icon that appears beside an email message
or conversation. [/NOTE]
This is just a bit to get use to it.

You were right about what you saw above yahoo and you can set up your gmail account as exchange as that is the way I would go since you have to have gmail to activate Android. Just select exchange and follow the wizard and it will take you right through the steps.

Yes you are also right that if you set up for Push you will be notified when only mail comes to you hence saving battery.

I am also going to give you this link on the complete user guide for the One:

[INFO]This will come is very useful. Download it to your computer for future use:

Take your time and go slow and you will be able to do this. On my phone I do not have my gmail set up as exchange for personal reasons because i have 2 email accts. One personal and one business and i have them both set to manual and retrieve them through the day. The business more often but it works for me and my battery use stays at a managable level. If you have any other questions please feel free to let me know. Good luck.

Jag, thank you. I think you overestimate me thought LOL I don't understand at all now. I want to use Yahoo. Wanna keep Gmail separate, as I don't use that for anything but the phone

So I tried to set up the settings in Mail/Exchange. I could not find the domain though. And then I read I had to buy Yahoo Plus for pop. It says I get a feature to pull everything off my yahoo email and to the phone. I don't necessarily need that. I don't mind deleting them on the phone and them deleting in the account. I did that in k9 email. It also says that you control the time you check email....LOL well I do that now. I simply want Push mail, as in the very second it comes to yahoo it comes to my phone.

Do you think you could help me more and more in detailed, maybe with any settings I have etc. I may not even need Yahoo Mail Plus and can cancel and save the $20 I could paypal half of that to you if you would like.

Thanks again.

May I suggest using maildroid for your email? It uses imap push, which is compatible with yahoo!, and you don't have to pay for yahoo plus. There is a free version if you want to try it, though the paid version is a little pricey at $17, I found it was worth it. I get both my 2 yahoo accounts and gmail accounts pushed, and the design if the app is just beautiful, best email app I've used.
