HTC One going black while docked

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I just 'upgraded' my razr to the HTC One and I'm dissappointed. I would dock my razr overnight and it kept a desk clock on, with weather and notifications, etc. It stayed on all night so that I could see the time....helped me get ready on schedule. Now I cannot find a way for the HTC One to do the same. I have tried various clock apps...I have installed caffeine...lock screen widgets. They all go black after the maximum time out of 10 minutes. Anyone figured out a solution yet? I have written to HTC, but we allknow how that goes.
