I am writing this for a friend one mine. He put the google play edition ROM on his HTC one but the official ota update downloaded and wants to install and he doesn't want it. How do you get rid of it so it doesn't try to install?

Flash a rom where the OTA notification has been removed

Are you using the suggested version of TWRP/CWM? Won't work with certain versions so you might need a newer one

You dont realise how much hassle you have saved me, i still have the rom any idea on how i could update twrp?

You need to flash a new one. Just look for an updated version on XDA.
