Hey everyone,
Earlier I installed CM 10 on my HTC One (AT&T) with android 4.3.1 on it but now I want to remove this as I prefer the original HTC One interface better. When I first rooted I created a backup but now I can't figure out how to restore it. I can't figure out how to install apps on CM 10 and I have been trying everything I can find online to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated as right now I just have a pretty paperweight on my desk.

Probably your best bet would be to obtain the RUU for the AT&T HTC One and use that to remove CM and restore it back to factory setup. Note this won't completely remove all signs of rooting but it will allow you to lock the bootloader back up if you wish and restore to official factory OS.

I would research a little bit on doing this for the reason that if you do wish to lock it back up and remove all signs of rooting then you will need to achieve S OFF so you can remove the " Tampered " tag that you see at the top of your screen when you boot into your bootloader. Leaving that showing as tampered would void your warranty and HTC/carrier/store can refuse to service/warranty the device.

I am honestly lost. What exactly is a RUU? Right now I have my backup from my original when I first rooted it, can I just place those files in the TWRP folder and boot into recovery that way? Other than that I have searched and found numerous downloads for roms and even a 4.4 KitKat ROM that is "stock," all I really want to do is remove cyanogenmod because with it installed I can't get back my contacts which are synced via google with it's hangout app. I greatly appreciate your assistance.

RUU is the factory image /firmware that is used to flash the device back to stock. A Google search should point you in the right direction if you choose to do this.

If your talking about a backup that you made from your custom recovery CWM /TWRP when you first rooted then you should be able to use the RESTORE option from within recovery.

I found a RUU but unfortunately it keeps failing. Right now I have image version: 3.17.502.3 and it is trying to update to Image Version: 1.29.1540.16, any idea where i can find the 3.17.502.3 or even later?

I replied before I saw your post refresh. I tried looking into the restore folder but it wasn't there so I just found a way to sideload it onto there and hopefully it works now. Thank you for your patience.

Good deal friend.

Glad everything worked out :)
